Dear Senator ……

I am writing as a constituent in your state to urge you to support S.Res. 168: Supporting respect for human rights and encouraging inclusive governance in Ethiopia introduced by Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) on 05/17/2017.  As of today, S.Res. 168 has 26 co-sponsors from both parties and has a great deal of support from across the political spectrum. S.Res. 168  passed the Foreign Relation Committee on Sept 19, 2017 and is awaiting to be voted by the full senate.

S.Res. 168  is an important step toward ending the deteriorating political conditions in Ethiopia and put the country on the path to peace and democracy. S.Res. 168  recognizes that a stable, prosperous and democratic Ethiopia will be a stabilizing force for the Horn of Africa and critical in serving the long term U.S. interests in Ethiopia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

It is important that our country continue to be a leader in the world on democracy and human rights issues.  As my Senator, I request that you sign on as a co-sponsor and vote in support of S.Res. 168  and do all you can to further support efforts in human rights and democracy promotion in Ethiopia.

Sincerely,

Your Full Name
